European Commission — Public Platforms

Public-facing platforms for the European Commission — Brussels / Luxembourg. Senior Drupal developer on the main website redesign team in an agile, sprint-driven workflow: I designed the relational data model for tens of thousands of users, led several Drupal platform migrations and built the CI/CD that shipped them.

Highlights

  • Main-site redesign: member of the team rebuilding the Commission's public-facing platforms; designed the relational data model serving tens of thousands of users.
  • Platform migrations: led several Drupal migrations across the platform, with batch-processing API tools built on Drupal, Drush-cli and custom modules — cutting deployment times and configuration errors.
  • Performance: optimised MySQL queries and Apache configurations behind the public-facing sites.
  • CI/CD & testing: Jenkins, GitHub Actions and Drone pipelines with automated Jest suites and unit tests in React Testing Library; automated builds and tests with Git and Jenkins, keeping environments consistent from development to production.
  • Accessibility & SEO: WCAG and ARIA compliance and SEO best practices across public pages.
  • Delivery & collaboration: agile sprints documented in Confluence; bridged technical and business needs with project managers, developers and stakeholders; recognised for analytical thinking and proactive troubleshooting across technical and non-technical audiences.
